Description

Method Composer Fundamentals describes how to use the EPF Composer tool (or its commercial version – Rational Method Composer) to define method content and publish configured processes. Beginning with an overview of key Composer fundamentals and base method content (OpenUP and RUP), the course then describes how to capture core method content such as roles, tasks, work products, and guidance. Continuing with a discussion of how to use standard categories (disciplines, domains, role sets) for basic organization, the course then introduces method configurations and how to publish the process website. Students then learn how to use custom categories for building configuration views (i.e. tabs in the published website). The course then describes how to create process patterns and draw activity and work product dependency diagrams. Then students configure lifecycle processes by defining phases, iterations, and activities and overriding and suppressing method content. The course finishes with how to extend processes via contributions, replacements, and extensions.
