Description

Business Process Modeling with BPMN teaches how to formally model business processes using the Business Process Modeling Notation (BPMN v1.2). Beginning with a discussion of common challenges and best practices, the course continues with an overview of the business process modeling approach and how it relates to the overall business architecture (including the business service model and business domain model). Then the course describes the core concepts of business process diagrams and introduces twenty-one common workflow patterns. Students learn how to model the toplevel global collaboration business processes and then use that to derive a set of internal business processes. Then these private business processes are further decomposed into sub-process and tasks. The course then provides a detailed review of advanced workflow patterns. Best practices for managing and re-using process assets are discussed, along with integrating the business process model with the overall business architecture. The course finishes with discussion on business process requirements including business rules.
