APG Announces Professional Development Plug-In for RUP
Validated as Ready for IBM Rational Software
New Richmond, WI, May 13, 2005 -- Armstrong Process Group announces the APG Professional Development Plug-In for the Rational
Unified Process® that adds a new discipline for organizational and individual professional development. The new
professional development discipline describes a set of roles, activities, and artifacts for the process of continual professional
development, especially for those seeking formal industry certifications. The APG Professional Development Plug-In has been validated
as Ready for IBM Rational software.
"By capturing the professional development process in RUP® itself, we are able to provide process guidance to organizations and
IT practitioners in a familiar environment on a proven platform," said Chris Armstrong, President of Armstrong Process Group.
"APG can now offer a complete, integrated solution for the entire professional development lifecycle using the APG Professional Development
Plug-In, APG 'RUP Prep' certification practice exams, APG courseware, and APG Professional Services."
Most closely related to the Environment discipline, the Professional Development Plug-In provides a proven roadmap for continually developing
the skills and knowledge of today’s information technology worker. The new professional development discipline describes a set of roles,
activities, and artifacts for the process of continual professional development, especially for those seeking formal industry certifications.
The process is suitable for human resources departments, IT managers, development teams, and individual practitioners. The Professional Development
Plug-In also provides process guidance through a collection of guidelines, checklists, templates, and examples.
The APG Professional Development Plug-In will be available as a free download to the general public. Interested parties will be able to download
the plug-in in June from APG's website and from Ready IBM Rational software Plug-In Central on IBM's developerWorks website.
