APG Releases APG TOGAF™ 2007 Process Library

New Process Library Achieves TOGAF Tool Support Certification by The Open Group

New Richmond, WI, May 5, 2008 — Armstrong Process Group (APG) announced today its release of the APG TOGAF™ 2007 Process Library (ATPL), an innovative and unique way of using the industry's leading open enterprise architecture development method and framework – The Open Group Architecture Framework (TOGAF). The ATPL contains all of the process guidance found throughout TOGAF (in the form of guidelines, concepts, and checklists), as well as work breakdown structures (WBS) for the standard’s Architecture Development Method (ADM). Concurrently, the ATPL has successfully achieved the standards for TOGAF™ 8 Tool Support Certification, as established by The Open Group.

All portions of the TOGAF 8.1.1 specification are represented in the ATPL and are organized into the same four parts that are found in the printed book, PDF version, and HTML version published by The Open Group.

"With the ATPL, end user organizations now can base their enterprise architecture (EA) practices on TOGAF and create organization-specific versions of TOGAF that represent the concerns of their business and technology environments," said Chris Armstrong, President of Armstrong Process Group. "With the ATPL, TOGAF can now also be tightly integrated with other processes, such as IBM Rational Unified Process® (RUP®), Open Unified Process (OpenUP), Telelogic Harmony™ processes, ITIL®, COBIT, in addition to organization-specific processes."

Using the Eclipse Process Framework (EPF) Composer tool (an open-source, freely available tool), organizations can extend ATPL method content and method configurations to represent their tailoring of TOGAF to their enterprise architecture practice.

"As The Open Group releases new versions of TOGAF, APG will create new versions of the ATPL, which will be freely available to licensed customers," said Armstrong. "The flexibility of the ATPL Framework will allow easy migration of an organization’s existing additions and changes to the next version of TOGAF. This helps preserve the investments an organization has made as new best practices and techniques are added to TOGAF."

Additionally, APG is pleased to announce that the ATPL has achieved TOGAF 8 Tool Support Certification from The Open Group. "ATPL joins the ranks of an exclusive set of tools that hold this certification," said Armstrong. "TOGAF 8 Tool Support Certification means that the ATPL meets all requirements for supporting the Architecture Development Method (ADM) and Enterprise Continuum. Our customers can be confident that they are getting a quality product that is aligned with this important industry standard." APG is the first organization in the world to hold all three TOGAF certifications for training, professional services, and tool support.
